{ Intimidating TBR Tag // Victoria's Book Nook }

Hey guys! I'm double posting this Friday with a super fun tag, The Intimidating To Be Read tag! *GASP!*
Amount: 33 books.
Mostly: Historical Romance.
Since: 2016
Will Finish By: March 2019.

Now that your aquainted with my TBR pile, let's get onto the tag!!

1 // A book on your TBR pile that you haven't finished
For me, that would be A Measure Of Mercy by Lauraine Snelling, which I put down so I could read a review book but I am planning on fishing that one and the trilogy next month hopefully. I also didn't finish Reckless Heart by Amy Clipston, I just really disliked it and I don't think I'll keep it.

2 // A book you just haven't had the time to read for
The Sound Of Distant Thunder by Jan Drexler. I've heard many, many good things about this one but i haven't had a chance to pick it up yet.

3 // A book you haven't read because it's a sequel.
I think I actually have two for this one, Small Town Girl by Ann H. Gabhart which I heard you can read as a standalone!

4 // A book you haven't read because it's brand new.
Hmm. I VERY rarely buy new books but Sins Of The Past by Dee Henderson, Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey is brand new because It hasn't been read yet and I've never read any of the others before! It looks really intriguing though.

5 // A book by and author you read previously but didn't really like.
Minding the Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I'm not really excited about this one but it looks okay. I didn't *love* Suzanne's other books that I've read.

6 // A book on your TBR pile that your just not in the mood to read.
Definitely all those Fantasy ones such as the Narnia series, Kings Folly by Jill Williamson, The Edge Of Over There, and a Regency one by Melanie Dickerson, A Viscounts Proposal. I REALLY have to be in the mood for a regency, fantasy or dystopian book.

7 // A book on your TBR pile that you haven't read because it's enormous.
Kings Folly by Jill Williamson. I literally thought it was a collection when it got it, its like 600 pages!! I'm waiting fro Christmas Break to buckle down and power through it!

8. A book on your TBR you bought because of the cover
Dear Mr Knightley by Katherine Reay. I heard it was amazing but the cover really drew me in, its SO gorgeous!!

9. The book on your TBR you find the most intimidating
OOH. In The Shadow Of Denali by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse. I heard it was both really good and awful so I'm really excited to see how it is!

Thanks for reading!! I'm not tagging anyone, but if you want to do this, I'd love to read your answers!!

[ Dreams and Devotion by Sarah Holman Book Review // Victoria's Book Nook ]

This book really surprised me!! I read a preview of it wayyyyyy back in December of 2017 and I really wanted to read the rest but I couldn't bring myself to buy the Kindle book, sooo, when I say Maddy and Stella's new program with Indie Authors, I was SUPER excited and requested this one!

Dara and Dresden's story was super sweet and enjoyable. I loved Dresden character desire to become a monk, I thought it was original and interesting.

Dara was such a fabulous character!! I loved that she was very passionate about caring for her family and her friends. I also really liked how she didn't end up with Geoffrey! I thought it was very realistic and made me enjoy the story even more.
I was also very mad that Luke left! I hated him after that. xDD
The overall story was super amazing and I really loved it! it was the perfect length, and I thought it was the perfect e-book!
"I received a complimentary copy of this book from Stellae Books. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions."

[ The Huntress Of Thornbeck Forest Book Review // Victoria's Book Nook ]

Yep. Finallyyyyyy read it.
I bought this last December, for a few dollars at a used bookstore and had to plans to read it....eventually.
A few days ago I finally picked this up and thought it was about time I would read it. I had VERY low expectations since I listened to the first two hours and really didn't enjoy it, *glares at the terrible narrator* BUT when I finally closed the last page, I sighed. It turned out to be one of my favorite Melanie Dickerson books. Ever.

W H A T    I    L O V E D.
// Odette. AHHHHH. She was such a great character! I really loved that she had her faults, as well as her good points. Her personality was so unique and her desire to feed the poor was so sweet.

// Jorgen. I wasn't sure I would like him at first but his motives for capturing the poacher were understandable and make the story intriguing.

// There was a slight romance between Jorgen and Odette, but it didn't take away from the plot at all.

// Saving Kathryn from Agnes. I thought this really contributed to the plot, and it was just such a great part in the story.

// How Rutger had his faults as well as his good points. I never really see that in Christian Fiction books, but this was just so great to see a good character have his faults.

W H A T   I   D I S L I K E D
There was VERY little I disliked and most of these are minor.
// The kissing. It wasn't detailed but Odette and Jorgen did kiss a few times when they weren't even sure they were going to get married. One kiss was veryyyy disgusting and I had to hold back a gag.... "Jorgen kissed her like a man dying of water..." SERIOUSLY. That is so disgusting!!

// I found some parts slightly cheesy. I literally rolled my eyes. I can't even imagine some people saying that allowed. Some sentences were phrases really weirdly.

Overall, this was such an amazing story. I can't believe I hadn't picked it up before now!! I highly recommend it, even If your not much of a fairy tale or medieval person. I remember really disliking fairy tales or medieval things until I read Lisa T. Bergren and Melanie Dickerson. AHHHH.

Despite himself, Adler finds his defenses crumbling when it comes to Violet. But D-day draws near. And secrets can't stay buried forever.

At the last minute, she pretends to be the son her father never had, assumes his duties as a soldier, and rides off to join the fight to protect the castle of her liege lord’s ally from the besieging Teutonic Knights.
Wolfgang and his brother Steffan leave Hagenheim with several other soldiers to help their father’s ally in Poland. When they arrive, Wolfgang is exasperated by the young soldier Mikolai who seems to either always be one step away from disaster . . . or showing Wolfgang up in embarrassing ways.
When Wolfgang discovers his former rival and reluctant friend Mikolai is actually a girl, he is determined to protect her. But battle is a dangerous place where anything can happen—and usually does.

When Mulan receives word that her mother has been accused of practicing witchcraft through her healing herbs and skills, Mulan’s only thought is of defending her. Will she be able to trust Wolfgang to help? Or will sacrificing her own life be the only way to save her mother?
